early spring trees

the backdrop of blue sky accentuated the emerging colors of the trees in early spring
like the yellow hair of a dr. seuss character
green needles and brown pine cones
the white pops
seeing red in nature always brightens my day

a barren park

I took a walk down to the Belle Isle Marsh, where Spring is trying to fight through winter.

the accent of the oriole is a rare splash of color

buildings in the sky

With the snow melting and the sky blue I found myself looking up into the buildings of Boston
the crane filling in the hole in downtown crossing
I count seven different buildings
when a building reflects a building
a sky colored building

the snow keeps coming

Another day, another foot plus of snow. I took the camera up the hill, battling the wind and walking conditions.
behind the trees and the snow and across the water is boston

I like to think of these guys as the neighborhood shoveling crew

between storms

With feet of snow on the ground and another storm on the way I tried to capture some of what is going on in Boston
icicles on the park street church
the bleakness of sky and trees brings out more color than I've ever noticed
the boston skyline beyond the garden
beacon hill serves as a break between the white of snow and the gray of sky

big snow

With a forecast calling for something like 10 inches of snow and the MBTA shut down, I had a good old fashioned snow day. Except this snow day involved still doing my best to work. I did get outside to do what I could to capture the storm.

winter trees

One of the challenges I have been finding as I try to take more pictures is simply identifying a worthwhile subject from my everyday surroundings. This afternoon I ventured out as the sun was starting to set but knew that the sunset was not going to be my subject. As I began my wandering I was captured by the contrast between the leafless neighborhood trees and the winter sky.
the rising moon proved a worthy compliment to my barren tree
filling the frame with branches
